Uniting Employees at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

TL;DR

Racheli Peltier, Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, had just unveiled their new DEI pledge during a virtual all-hands meeting to over 700 employees. To foster commitment and unity, she turned to Piccles for an interactive and meaningful way to get everyone on board.

The Challenge

Racheli faced the challenge of generating genuine buy-in from a large, diverse group of employees during a virtual event. She needed a way to make the DEI pledge resonate personally with each team member and visually demonstrate their collective commitment.

The Piccles Activation

Racheli came up with an innovative solution: using Piccles, she invited all employees to sign their names and join the pledge. This activity provided a creative outlet for self-expression, with some employees choosing to quickly sign their names, while others took the opportunity to make their signature as elaborate and eye-catching as John Hancock’s.

Creating a Powerful Visual

After collecting the signatures, Racheli worked with the Piccles team to transform these individual expressions into a powerful graphic. The final result was a vibrant “CHANGEMAKERS” graphic composed of all the signatures, which could be used as a virtual background and a shareable visual representation of their collective commitment to DEI.

The Impact

The activity was a resounding success. Employees felt personally connected to the pledge, and the striking “CHANGEMAKERS” graphic became a symbol of their unity and dedication to the cause. Racheli expressed her excitement, saying, “This is amazing! Thank you so much!!!” and “We loved being able to use Piccles for this.”

Conclusion

The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's use of Piccles not only fostered employee engagement and unity during their virtual all-hands meeting but also created a lasting visual testament to their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. This case study highlights how Piccles can help non-profits create meaningful, interactive experiences that bring people together and amplify their mission.
