Joymob
TL;DR
Bahaa Chmait, founder of JOYMOB Events, was preparing for a networking event with a plan to reduce the loneliness and anxiety often felt by attendees who don't know anyone. His initial idea involved using 200 clipboards and reams of paper to break the ice by making people draw eachother. However, realizing the inefficiency and environmental impact, he decided to experiment with Piccles, a digital drawing tool he had encountered in an online workshop. The result was a resounding success.
The Challenge
Networking events can be daunting, especially for those who are new or introverted. Bahaa's goal was to create a fun, engaging atmosphere where attendees could easily make new connections. Initially, he planned to distribute clipboards and paper for a drawing activity, but soon realized this approach was cumbersome, expensive and not environmentally friendly.
The Piccles Activation
Recalling Piccles from a workshop, Bahaa decided to incorporate the digital drawing tool into his event. He replaced the physical materials with a simple, innovative format using Piccles, allowing attendees to draw their new partners digitally.
Creating Connections Through Creativity
The activity was straightforward: attendees had 3 minutes to draw their partners without lifting their fingers or looking down, followed by 4 minutes to get to know each other. This playful and creative exercise not only broke the ice but also lightened the mood, making it easier for people to mingle and have fun together.
The Impact
The response was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees loved the interactive and environmentally friendly approach. The digital format was easy to use and added a unique, enjoyable twist to the traditional networking event. Connections flourished as people engaged in the drawing activity and conversations flowed naturally.
The Result
By the end of the event, Bahaa had not only achieved his goal of reducing anxiety and loneliness but also created a memorable experience that attendees thoroughly enjoyed. The success of the event meant that the only task left for Bahaa was to return the 200 unused clipboards.
Conclusion
Bahaa Chmait's innovative use of Piccles at JOYMOB's networking event highlights the power of creativity and technology in fostering connections. This case study demonstrates how digital tools can enhance traditional events, making them more engaging, fun, and environmentally friendly. Piccles proved to be a game-changer, transforming the way people interact and connect at networking events.
