Engaging Healthcare Employees Nationwide With Piccles
In celebration of Healthcare Week, Emory Healthcare used Piccles for a daily drawing activity focused around mental health and wellness.
Emory Healthcare
TL;DR
During National Healthcare Week in May, Ansley Thompson, Director of Community Engagement, faced the challenge of engaging 24,000 employees spread across multiple hospitals and those working from home. Ansley’s goal was to create a unifying employee engagement campaign focused on mental health, ensuring everyone could participate regardless of their location.
The Challenge
With employees scattered across numerous hospitals and remote locations, creating an inclusive and engaging activity was no small feat. Ansley needed a solution that would connect everyone in a meaningful way, promoting mental wellness and a sense of community.
The Piccles Activation
Ansley crafted an innovative employee engagement campaign centered around mental health. Her employee wellness team devised four thought-provoking questions, such as "What does wellbeing mean to you?" and "What gives you joy?"
Each day, a new prompt was shared via the company intranet, inviting employees to draw their responses using Emory’s brand colors. This daily activity allowed everyone to reflect on their mental health and express their thoughts creatively, fostering a shared experience across the organization.
Interactive and Inclusive
After the week-long campaign concluded, the responses to all questions were compiled into a recap video and shared internally, celebrating the collective input from employees. The drawings were also transformed into a stunning graphic and printed as 2'x 3' window clings seen below.
Expanding the Impact
The window clings featured a QR code, enabling patients in all 12 hospitals to scan and participate in the live art exhibit. This interactive element allowed patients to contribute their own thoughts and feelings about wellness, expanding the campaign’s impact beyond just the employees and fostering a deeper connection within the hospital community.
The Result
The campaign was a resounding success, uniting 24,000 employees in a shared celebration of mental wellness and creativity. The visually striking window clings not only brightened the hospital environments but also engaged patients, creating a sense of community and shared purpose.
Conclusion
Ansley Thompson’s innovative use of Piccles during National Healthcare Week demonstrates how technology can bridge physical distances and create meaningful connections. This case study highlights Piccles' ability to enhance employee engagement and mental health awareness in the healthcare industry, fostering a stronger, more connected community.
