Engaging Attendees at TAG B2B Retail Trade Show

TAG

TL;DR

Quebec's leading B2B retail trade show, TAG, is known for attracting a diverse crowd of retailers, entrepreneurs, government organizations, non-profits, students, and anyone interested in retail and entrepreneurship. To maintain engagement, especially during breaks, organizers decided to experiment with Piccles, aiming to capture attention and foster interaction in a unique and creative way.

The Challenge

Keeping attendees engaged during breaks in programming can be challenging, as it’s a prime time for participants to get distracted by their phones. TAG organizers needed an innovative solution to maintain audience interest and ensure a lively atmosphere throughout the event.

The Piccles Activation

To tackle this challenge, TAG integrated Piccles into their event strategy. Before each break—whether for coffee or dinner—a Piccles QR code was displayed on the main screen, inviting attendees to participate in a collective drawing activity.

Creative Engagement During Breaks

Participants used their break times to draw together, contributing to a collective artwork. Upon returning, they were greeted with the collaborative masterpiece, which added a burst of energy to the room and encouraged attendees to get back to their seats promptly.

Interactive Scavenger Hunt

In addition to the drawing activity, TAG organizers introduced a QR code scavenger hunt. QR codes were strategically placed throughout the venue, particularly in high-traffic areas like the catering section and near coffee stations. There were five QR codes in total, each leading to a creative challenge.

Participants eagerly hunted for the QR codes and completed the prompts, vying for the highest participation rate to win a prize. Piccles' email capture functionality was enabled, providing organizers with a valuable list of the most engaged participants.

The Outcome

The combination of interactive drawing and the scavenger hunt was a huge success. Attendees were not only engaged during breaks but also actively explored the venue, creating a dynamic and interactive atmosphere. Multiple graphics were created post-conference to highlight sponsors and showcase attendee participation.

The scavenger hunt winners received special prizes, adding an element of excitement and competition to the event.

Conclusion

TAG's use of Piccles effectively transformed breaks from potential downtime into opportunities for creativity and engagement. By incorporating interactive activities, TAG ensured that attendees remained active and involved throughout the event, fostering a sense of community and enhancing the overall experience. This case study demonstrates the power of innovative engagement strategies in the events industry, making Piccles a valuable tool for maintaining attendee interest and participation.
