Energizing Creatives at Creative Mornings

Creative Mornings

TL;DR

Creative Mornings is a global community of designers, dreamers, and doers who share a passion for learning, connection, and coffee ☕️. To engage this vibrant community, Chris Bent, founder of Piccles, led an online session with 222 creatives in a visual exploration of creativity. Using Creative Mornings' signature colors, Chris facilitated activities that fostered connection and self-reflection, resulting in a memorable and inspiring experience.

The Challenge

Engaging a large group of creatives in a virtual setting requires innovative and interactive methods. The goal was to create a session that would not only capture the participants' attention but also allow them to express their creativity and connect with others on a deeper level.

The Piccles Activation

Chris Bent kicked off the session by asking participants what color they were feeling, using Piccles' digital drawing tool. This simple question set the stage for a vibrant and interactive exploration of creativity.

Interactive Activities

The next activity focused on understanding everyone's personal relationship with creativity. Participants were asked to use a restricted color palette—red for "NO," green for "YES," and yellow for "somewhere in the middle"—to visually express their responses. This led to a colorful and insightful display of personal creative journeys.

Participants then shared their creative outlets, highlighting the diverse ways they express their creativity. Following this, they explored what was keeping them from reaching their full creative potential and envisioned the superpower they would need to overcome these barriers.

Building Creative Futures

In a playful twist, participants designed their own superhero crests, symbolizing the unique strengths and aspirations they would carry into their creative futures. This activity not only sparked imagination but also fostered a sense of empowerment and community.

Measuring the Impact

To gauge the workshop's impact, Chris asked the same question at the end that he had asked at the beginning: what color are you feeling now? The comparison of responses showed a clear shift, with participants feeling more energized, grateful, joyful, and fresh.

The Outcome

The drawings from the session were downloaded and turned into a shareable wallpaper for the community, serving as a vibrant reminder of the collective creative energy and insights shared during the workshop.

Conclusion

The Creative Mornings session led by Chris Bent and facilitated by Piccles successfully engaged and energized a large group of creatives. By combining visual exploration with personal reflection, the session not only fostered deeper connections among participants but also left them feeling inspired and empowered. This demonstrates the power of interactive, creative activities in virtual events, making Piccles an invaluable tool to engage creatives and non-creatives alike.
