The organizers of IMEX—the International Meetings and Events Exposition—sought innovative ways to engage attendees around their new sustainability pledge. Roger Lehner, Senior Operations and Sustainability Executive, partnered with Piccles to power an impactful activation that combined creativity and environmental responsibility.


The Challenge

IMEX wanted to capture attendees' attention and enthusiasm for their sustainability initiatives. The challenge was to create an engaging, interactive experience that would resonate with participants and promote their sustainability pledge, all while ensuring a hygienic environment.


The Piccles Activation

Roger Lehner turned to Piccles to create a unique, on-brand experience for IMEX attendees. The color palette was set to IMEX's signature colors, ensuring that the digital artwork would align with the event's branding. Attendees were invited to scan a QR code to participate, allowing them to join the activity easily and without spreading germs.


Interactive Engagement

A single TV screen displayed the colorful forest scene created by hundreds of attendees. Participants used their smartphones to draw and contribute to the digital artwork, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose. The QR code made it simple for attendees to join in, ensuring high participation rates.





Real-World Impact

The engagement didn’t just stop at digital drawings. For every participant in the activation, a real tree was planted. Thanks to this initiative, 1,000 trees found new roots around the world, making a tangible impact on the environment.


Promoting Goodwill

To celebrate and promote this act of goodwill, IMEX created a video showcasing the activation and its positive outcomes. This video served to inspire other events to adopt similar sustainability practices and highlighted IMEX’s commitment to environmental stewardship.
