Bridging Cultures and Languages at MDRT

Million Dollar Round Table

TL;DR

The Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) faced a significant challenge: their global association of financial professionals comprises members from diverse countries, cultures, and languages. Additionally, they needed to host a hybrid event that could engage both in-person and virtual attendees. To address these complexities and ensure inclusivity, Lauren Bugielski, Meeting Planner at MDRT, turned to Piccles with an innovative idea.

The Challenge

MDRT’s goal was to create an inclusive and accommodating experience for their international audience, allowing attendees to communicate effectively despite language barriers. The event needed to seamlessly integrate both in-person and virtual participants, making everyone feel connected and engaged.

The Piccles Activation

Lauren envisioned a solution where attendees could draw their responses to various questions in their native languages, fostering immediate understanding and connection. This required Piccles to develop a custom experience, translating prompts into Cantonese, French, Korean, Japanese, Mandarin, Spanish, and Thai.

Creating a Seamless Hybrid Experience

To accommodate the hybrid nature of the event, MDRT used the MeetingPlay platform to engage audiences worldwide. Piccles integrated their collaborative drawing boards directly into the platform using iframes, ensuring a seamless experience for all participants, whether they were attending in person or virtually.

Interactive Engagement

During the event, attendees were invited to draw their responses to questions posed in their native languages. This visual method of communication allowed everyone to express their thoughts and feelings creatively, breaking down language barriers and fostering a sense of global community.

Memorable Conclusion

To cap off the experience, all drawings were downloaded and compiled into a recap video, which was played at the conclusion of the conference. This video not only highlighted the diverse and vibrant contributions from attendees but also created a sense of FOMO (fear of missing out) for those who couldn’t attend, encouraging future participation.

The Impact

The Piccles activation successfully bridged cultural and linguistic gaps, creating an inclusive and engaging environment for MDRT’s diverse membership. The hybrid event was a resounding success, with participants feeling connected and valued, regardless of their location or language.

Conclusion

MDRT’s collaboration with Piccles showcases the power of innovative technology to enhance inclusivity and engagement at global events. By allowing attendees to communicate through drawings in their native languages, MDRT ensured that everyone felt understood and included. This highlights how Piccles can transform events with diverse attendees and language barriers, making them more interactive, memorable, and inclusive.
